Gunung Kawi Temple

Gunung Kawi is one of the ancient temple in Gianyar, Bali. This temple is located in the district Tampaksiring, about a half hour drive from downtown gianyar. Gunung Kawi is also close to Tirta Empul Temple. The distance is about 34 km from the city of Denpasar and 15km from Ubud. So not too far from Denpasar. The uniqueness of this temple is a temple carved in the cliffs. The temples are believed to be a funeral king Udayana, Queen Mahendradata, their sons Airlangga and his brother Anak wungsu and Marakata. In addition there are also caves that were once used by the kings of Bali as a place to meditate. Because of its location in the area of ​​cliffs made ​​the atmosphere at the Gunung Kawi temple is very comfortable and charming. Especially near the temple flows the river of Pakerisan which adds to its beauty.
